Concord, NH – Today, Senate and House conferees approved two reports in support of bills SB 239 and SB 342 aimed at improving the small business environment in New Hampshire.
Senator Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) issued the following statement upon agreement on these bills.
“I would first like to thank Senator David Boutin and Representative Norm Major for their ongoing support and work on these two pieces of legislation that will improve the ability for small business owners to be successful in the State of New Hampshire.”
“We have made lowering the cost of doing business and improving the competitive small business environment in New Hampshire a top priority during the legislative session, taking aim at high energy and health care costs, burdensome workers’ compensation, and most importantly, reducing the tax on businesses in our state.”
“The support of these two bills today builds on our long record of incentivizing business to grow, expand, and create jobs in our state while ensuring that prospective new business owners know that New Hampshire is open and supportive of business.”
“The bill, SB 239, aligns New Hampshire with the Federal Internal Revenue Code and increases expensive provisions for businesses from $25,000 to $100,000. These provisions will encourage small business owners to invest in their companies by incentivizing the purchase of new equipment or expanding small business’ ability to create jobs, bring in more customers and increase their overall success.”
“Similarly, SB 342 allows businesses to grow or change their businesses’ structure or organization without being subjected to a tax penalty. Removing the step-up tax shows prospective businesses that New Hampshire is supportive of innovative companies and their need to expand over time.”
“I am proud of the work done in both the House and the Senate to better New Hampshire’s small business environment and I look forward to the Governor passing these important bills into law as soon as they reach her desk.”
